A Quick Catch Up!

Hey Everyone,

Well it's definitely been a while but it dawned on me the other day just how much I missed blogging. It's crazy how quick time slips away and before you know it it's the end of September and you haven't blogged since January. I've had a few things going on the past couple of months so lets have a quick catch up then (hopefully) resume to a better upload schedule.

Firstly I turned 20 this year (yikes!!!!) Suddenly realising you aren't a teenager any more and you have to start acting like a responsible adult... yep it definitely hurt a little bit!

Unfortunately at the beginning of the year I lost my dog to cancer which was very, very difficult. She was a beautiful greyhound that we rescued at the age of two. I personally think a house without a dog is not a home so we decided to go back to the same rescue centre and adopt another greyhound. Little did I know we'd walk away with two this time!!

I also went on holiday to Majorca at the end of June which was brilliant. It was lovely just to get a bit of sun because lets say the Scottish summer hasn't been the best!! The week flew by as usual but it was exactly the break I needed.

Those have been the stand out moments for me so far this year. I am so happy we are starting to get back into Autumn though as it's one of my favourite seasons and it's a great excuse to get the candles out again!!

Homemade Millionaire Shortbread!

What is better than millionaire shortbread?! HOMEMADE millionaire shortbread!! It is seriously amazing so I thought I'd share the recipe I use with you all. It is quite simple but it does take quite a long time to make.
What you need...
For the shortbread:
Butter - 4 oz
Caster Sugar - 2 oz
Plain Flour - 6 oz

For the caramel filing:
Butter - 4 oz
Caster Sugar - 2 oz
Golden Syrup - 2 tbs
Condensed Milk - 5 fl oz

For the chocolate Topping:
Plain or Milk Chocolate - 4 oz
Butter - 0.5 oz
(I decided to double the recipe since I'm so addicted to it)

First of all place the butter and sugar in a bowl and mix together until light and fluffy. Next sift the flour into the same bowl and stir. Then take your freshly washed hands and knead the dough together. After that spread the dough evenly into a square tin and place it in the oven at 180°C for 25 minutes.

Before making the caramel make sure the shortbread has cooled. The caramel filling is probably the trickiest thing to make as it is very easy to burn since it is basically pure sugar. Place all the ingredients in a sauce pan on low heat and do not remove the mixture from the heat until it begins to thicken. Also keep stirring to prevent it from burning. Let the caramel cool a little before pouring it over the shortbread and leave to set.

Finally melt the chocolate and butter together and pour over the caramel. Leave it to set for an hour then use a knife to score the chocolate into whatever shape you desire. Then place in fridge.

I hope you enjoyed this post and get to try this delicious recipe yourself.

YSL Rouge Volupté Shine Lipstick!

First of all I really need to apoligise for not blogging in such a long time. My life just seemed to start speeding by at such a rate that I couldn't find time to write posts. Anyway I'm back now and what better way to start off again than with one of YSL's gorgeous lipsticks.

As I am trying to slowly build up my high end lipstick collection, I thought it was about time I tried one from YSL. Choosing which colour to get was definitely the hard part (mostly because I was buying it online). As usual I looked at swatch after swatch on google images and decided to take a chance on Rose in Tension (17).
Rose in Tension is a beautiful bright rosy pink that would definitely suit a lot of skin tones and make-up looks. There is quite a bit of glitter through the lipstick which I was a little concerned about but luckily it isn't over powering at all.

The product is a dream to apply. It glides on so effortlessly and one quick swipe is enough to bring it to it's vibrant finish. The colour lasts a decent amount of time on the lips but I do touch it up every couple of hours to make sure it stays true to it's rosy colour.

I can not publish this post with out saying how ABSOLUTELY AMAZING the packaging is. It is hands down the most luxurious looking product in my entire collection. One quick glance at it and you know for sure its an expensive lipstick. I had luckily saved up enough Boots points so I didn't need to splash out the £24 but I'm sure I will on another one of YSL's beauties in the foreseeable future!!

Thank you so much for reading!

Make-up Look: Benefit Whole Lotta Lovin' Kit!

Along with reviewing Benefit's Whole Lotta Lovin' kit, I decided to create a make-up look using all the different products as well. (You can read my review of the kit here).

For my bases make-up I used No.7's Stay Perfect foundation, Boi-ing Concealer from the Whole Lotta Lovin' kit and a translucent loose powder by Essence. Also from the Benefit kit I used their Hoola bronzer to contour my cheek bones. I wanted to give my face and neck a more bronzed look so I dusted a tiny bit of Lagoona by NARS all over. For blush I chose MAC's Fleur Power which is a gorgeous coral colour.
All the eye shadows I used were from the little Benefit kit. So to start of I used the cream eye shadow in No Pressure to prime my lids and to add a bit of colour. I then took the colour Nude Swings and applied it all over my lid, inner corner and up to my brow bone. Obviously I needed to darken up the look a little so I applied Its Complicated into my crease and outer corner. I also ran what was left on my brush under my lower lash line. To make my eyes look wider I pressed Kiss Me, I'm Tipsy right into the centre of my lids. I also blended a little bit of Hoola bronzer into my crease as a transition colour.

I created a slight cat eye using my L'oreal Perfect Slim eye liner and also lined my upper and lower lash line with my Topshop Waterproof Liner in black. I then applied They're Real mascara by Benefit onto my top and bottom lashes.
To fill in my brows I used my Charcoal Brown MAC eye shadow and I then set them using my Maybelline Brow Drama.

The lip colour I went for was Soap & Glory's Sexy Motherpucker Gloss Stick in Fuchsia-Ristic.

Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara!

A couple of months ago, I was browsing through all the different high end make-up on the Debenhams website and come across Clinique. As I was flicking through all their different products it occurred to me that I had never tried anything from Clinique. The bottom lash mascara was always something I wanted to try so I decided to go ahead and order it!

After ordering this product I was a little concerned that it would be a bit gimmicky. Like do I really need a different mascara for my bottom lashes?! I feel like I shouldn't but after trying it I do really like it. It seems to make my bottom lashes so long and perfectly seperated the way no other regular mascara has been able to.
The teeny tiny applicator is definitely the the secret behind amazing bottom lashes. It is available in both black and brown which is great. I only have the black one as I have never felt the need to wear brown mascara but never say never. At £12, I really do think it is worth it. Although that is probably quite expensive for a 2ml bottle, I think the product will last a long time. I would definitely re-purchase it again when I run out!

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed!

Whole Lotta Lovin'! By Benefit!!

Benefit, Benefit, Benefit. I have become completely obsessed with their products recently. Everything I have tried has just blown me away including this 'Whole Lotta Lovin'!' gift set. I received this little set for Christmas from my best friend and I've hardly used any other eye shadow since I got it. There are five different products included in the set which gives you a great opportunity to try them before buying the full size. You get 3 eye shadows, 1 cream eye shadow, a deluxe mini of They're Real mascara, Boing concealer and Hoola bronzer.

Eye Shadows (Left to Right) - Nude Swings, Kiss Me, I'm Tipsy, It's Complicated.
They're Real Mascara
I tried this mascara at the end of last year and I was a little worried it wouldn't live up to the major hype it receives but my goodness I love it. It lengthens, it volumises, it is just everything I look for in a mascara. If you haven't tried it then definitely give it a go if you have the opportunity.

Long Wear Powder Shadows
The three shadows are all neutrals which I love as they are very wearable and suitable for everyday use. Before this set, I had never tried a Benefit eye shadow and I am super impressed by them. Nude Swings is my favourite out of the three but Kiss Me, I'm Tipsy and It's Complicated are both lovely as well.

Creaseless Cream Eye Shadow
I use cream eye shadows almost everyday but like the powder eye shadows, I had never tried one from Benefit. The colour that comes with this kit is No Pressure which is a gorgeous bronze with shimmer. I can't explain how smooth and blendable Benefit's cream eye shadows are!! By far the best I have EVER tried.

Boi-ing Concealer
This is the product I am least impressed with from the set. It may be because the shade (Number 02) is a tad too dark for my skin but I'll try it again in summer when my skin may get a bit more colour. Although, when I put this under my eyes to cover up my dark circles it really didn't do very much at all.

Hoola Bronzer
I am so glad I finally got to try this!! I have been lusting after this bronzer for ages now and after trying this little sample I have ordered a gift set that includes the full size of Hoola. I just love it so much, its the perfect contour colour.

Overall, I give this gift set a 9.5/10!! Its brilliant and I'm sure I will get so much use from it.

My Best Decision From 2013!

I have been told many times that life is far too short to be doing something you hate. A couple of months ago I found out that that was exactly what I was doing. I hated almost everything about my life and I honestly had a struggle finding out what was causing me to feel that way. My job as a waitress was starting to become a real chore which it had never been before. I used to really enjoy my job but I suddenly started getting feelings of dread every time I was about to start a shift.

It got to the point that even at home I was constantly irritated and unhappy which is completely out of character for me. I'm the type of person who tries to see the best in bad situations and is generally an upbeat, happy person.

The only thing that had changed in my life was the fact I started college. I had chosen a Business HNC course which I studied at my nearest college. This was the ammunition to my (almost) constant unhappiness. While I was still at school, it came to the point that I had to decide what I wanted to do the following year. I was completely stumped. I had absolutely no idea. College seemed to be my only option so that's what I went for. As for the course, I am pretty sure I did pick the right one. I really enjoyed doing Higher Business Management so it definitely wasn't the course that I hated. I didn't think being at college would have such a major effect on my life. To put it simply, I was feed up of education.

Being talked at by a lecturer while I struggled to stay awake isn't a good situation. I was ready after my six years of high school to go into a full time job (even if I didn't know it at the time). So after a good amount of thinking and talking to my parents, I decided to drop out of college. It was not an easy decision and honestly I wasn't 100% sure I had made the correct chose. But never the less I signed the withdrawal form, handed it in to the college and walked out the door feeling myself again.
This post is just to show you that if you hate what you are currently doing, change it! I can't imagine how I'd be feeling now if I had carried on at college. Also don't let other people influence your choses too much as YOU are the one having to live with it not them. I'm positive I went to college to keep people happy instead of following my own heart. Which I sincerely regret now.

One thing I want to be clear about is that life doesn't have a road that you have to follow. A lot of people probably think it is essential to finish school then go to college or university, which may work for them but not everyone. I am a living example of that!! Why not go off road a bit from the rest of the herd and find yourself. Get inspired and be the best version of yourself possible because with or without a degree, you can be successful.

As for what I am doing now, I became a full time waitress at the hotel I was working at and started to look for apprenticeships and full time jobs. A month or so ago I heard that the current full time receptionist at the hotel was leaving. My manager asked me if I wanted to apply for the post so I did and I got the job!!!

I couldn't be happier.
Leaving college is the best decision I have ever made.

Thank you so much for reading, I really hope this didn't bore you to much but I just wanted to share my experience!

Follow your heart<3
